Raised in Los Angeles, California, Rumiko began her higher education at UCLA in the Department of Linguistics before moving to Japan as an international student at International Christian University (ICU) in Tokyo. She graduated from ICU with a degree in Psycholinguistics.
While still a student, she laid the foundation for her career by working in English education for various schools and corporations, while simultaneously appearing on NHK television.

Today, Rumiko enjoys a versatile and prolific career spanning character voices, corporate videos, English educational materials, dubbing, and radio hosting. Fluent in both English and Japanese, she is highly regarded for her exceptional improvisational skills, rich vocal versatility, and extensive professional experience.
