Gerri Sorrells was born in Tokyo and holds American citizenship. After attending the American School in Japan (Chofu), she studied child education at Sophia University. Since her university days, she has handled numerous projects, including NHK's English educational programs, television, radio, commercials, character voices for animation, corporate videos, in-store and station announcements, and narration for English educational materials.

She is also consistently active—in both English and Japanese—as a stage performer, translator, copywriter, emcee, lecturer, and author. She is the original "Bilingu-gal."
