Born in 1981 in California, USA, Noam Katz graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. In the summer of 2001, while still a student, he visited Japan on a trip and was instantly charmed. Following graduation in 2002, he moved to Shimane Prefecture to work at an English conversation school. After completing his contract and briefly returning to work in the U.S., he returned to Japan in 2005 through the JET Programme (Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme). He spent three years in Tokushima Prefecture as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT). In 2008, he moved to Tokyo to work in the public relations department of a major Japanese corporation. Since 2013, Noam has been working as a freelancer and is currently active as a writer, translator, interpreter, and narrator.
